Chennai, July 1 (SocialNews.XYZ) Composer Santhosh Narayanan, who recently composed music for Dhanush star Jagame Thandhiram, believes that independent music in the Tamil music industry is reaching new heights. He calls it a “golden period” for independent artists.
Santhosh’s composition “Enjoy Enjaami” recently achieved worldwide fame when French music producer DJ Snake remixed the track.
âThe independent Tamil scene is growing and we are delighted to have made a breakthrough in the form of ‘Enjoy Enjaami’, which has connected well with the public. Santhosh adds: “I think the Indian music scene should be celebrated in a much bigger way around the world. I would call it a golden moment for independent music.”
Santhosh, who has composed the music for many Tamil films including “Soodhu Kavvum”, “Jigarthanda” and “Kabali”, among others, began his musical journey as a freelance composer in 2012. Things have changed dramatically in the music industry since then, he observes. .
âI saw it all between 2012 and now, when I was trying so many different things as a freelance artist. I was a lot less prepared then and my vision was completely different. I would say I have it all. seen and have done so many gigs. We’ve always tried to be relevant and make our music reach at least those who are looking for it. It was a big fight at this point, at least in my point of view, âhe says.
The composer feels lucky that he has never been pressured for anything when it comes to his music. âI consider myself to be an independent artist among the film composers in the industry because I have always felt that I was never pushed or pressured to do anything even when I was working on the film side. the chance to be as independent as possible, even with the soundtrack of the film, âexplains Santhosh, whose latest filmâ Jagame Thandhiram âis streaming on Netflix.
