LAS VEGAS (FOX5) – Details have been released for The Beverly Theater, an independent movie house and performance theater that will open in downtown Las Vegas in mid-2022.
The project begins in the fall on 6th Street near Bonneville Avenue, according to the Rogers Foundation, which is fully funding the project.
The non-profit venue is expected to host “independent films, musical events, artistic performances, literary experiences and educational programs” every day of the week.
âMy affinity for books and film is no secret, but being a staunch supporter of the arts means making sure the community has what it needs to thrive, and that’s the real motivation for this. place, âsaid Beverly Rogers, chair of the board of directors of The Rogers Foundation, in a written statement. âDeveloping a permanent home for independent film and artistic expression fills a void in Southern Nevada and we’re excited to add another creative vessel to our humble little corner of 6th in downtown Las Vegas. “
The two-story building will consist of three areas, including the theater, the terrace and the courtyard. It will also have an on-site ticket office, retail space, green space, catering kitchen and educational workspaces.
The theater will hold 150 seats and will be designed to allow additional capacity. In the cinema, “the 360 ââsquare foot screen is coupled with a motorized cinema masking system and was designed to maximize viewing angles from every seat in the house.”
âOur goal is to create a wave of craft activities that attract fans, uplift independent voices and provide a safe creative space for film and the arts. Bringing a new theater to Las Vegas is an important responsibility and our program will be for the people. We have to get it right, âCreative Director Kip Kelly said in the statement.
