Bollywood and indie music at FIFA this year

Indian musicians Salim-Sulaiman and Sunidhi Chauhan, along with Siddharth Kasyap’s Perfect Amalgamation, will represent India at the FIFA Bollywood Music Festival ahead of the World Cup. And the musicians are delighted to take the stage at Lusail Stadium, the venue for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Bollywood and indie music at FIFA this year

“This is the second time we have performed at a FIFA event. Our first performance was at the opening ceremony of the 2010 World Cup in Johannesburg (South Africa) in front of 90,000 people. It’s a prestigious event that people all over the world will see,” says singer-songwriter Salim Merchant, one half of the Salim-Sulaiman duo. Sharing the plan for their next act, he adds, “We’re looking forward to presenting some of our famous songs from movies like Kurban (2009), Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008), Baaja Baaraat Group (2010), and more. During our hour-long set, we’ll also perform our hit indie songs, including Zindadili.”

Meanwhile, Kasyap is also thrilled to perform at the event with his band, Siddharth Kasyap’s Perfect Amalgamation. “We will present an instrumental fusion set that will focus on modern and contemporary ways of presenting fusion music. We have made two tracks for this event that the people of Qatar could identify with. As an Indian, having the chance to participate in one of the greatest sporting events in the world makes me proud. We look forward to introducing Indian culture to people around the world,” says the leader of the group.
